IKON Sydney

Ikon Institute Australia was established in 1988 as the ‘Ikon Institute of Healing Arts’ to educate practitioners in transpersonal psychotherapy through a therapeutic framework. Today Ikon is a private higher education provider offering unique courses of creative therapies, counselling & psychotherapy and early childhood education.

Ikon is dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding in humanistic studies through education, leadership and practice. Ikon’s educational philosophy is grounded, functional and evidence-based humanism, and a commitment to free intellectual enquiry.

Ikon training centres are located in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

They offer a small class size with a positive impact on learning through increased time on tasks, tailored instruction and supported classroom participation. Course delivery is a combination of on-campus lectures, tutorials, out of the class self-directed study and workplace learning. Teachers are from diverse backgrounds and have professional experience in the disciplines they teach, ensuring they share relevant examples and practices. Students and teachers are involved with the community and industry to make the course content innovative, relevant and current. Graduates can be found working in private practices, or in specialist roles within the child and aged care services, hospitals, schools or other community health services.
